Import/Sync Revit Instances with linked model Rooms

In previous versions (2.14 and earlier), it was required to copy rooms into linked models. This is no longer necessary.
See Create or Update Revit Spaces from Linked Revit Model.
See Create or Update Revit Rooms from Linked Revit Model

As long as you have a model linked that has rooms with rooms linked to dRofus, you can now import and sync the instances in your model to create or update occurrences in dRofus.

There are important considerations:

  1. Your model has the same key parameters used to link rooms.

  2. The model with linked Rooms is loaded.

Using Revit’s built-in IFC GUID as the key to link rooms does not require creating custom fields as shared parameters or project parameters. If you use a custom parameter (like Room ID) as a key, you must manually create it in your model before you can create or update occurrences.

Start by linking Rooms to dRofus in your “Rooms Model.”
See Link Rooms that exists in Revit and dRofus

Next, link your Rooms Model into the model where you want to create and update instances in dRofus. This “Instances Model” could be a Furniture model, for example.

Finally, import or sync rooms as if they were in your model. See Revit Family types and dRofus Items

Working with linked Models

In addition to Family Instances in the current (host) model, you can look for Items/ Revit Family Instances in linked models for selected Levels or Room(s) / Space(s) within the window:

  1. "Items in room"

  2. "Items in level/model"

  3. "Items in level/model (space)

For example, you are working within a shell model that is a host model for the fit-out and MEP models, which are linked models. To view/compare the Family Instances within the linked models against the planned dRofus Items, first determine if you are looking for Items in Room or by Level/Selection.

For Items in Room, follow these steps

Step 1. Select “Items in Room”

Step 2: Select “Linked Model Filter”

The Items in the linked model will now appear in the list of Items in Room:

Step 2: Select the Linked model filter

Before running all in the model, pick the current level if you want just to see the linked occurrence on the level you are on - then select a Linked model filter to narrow down which linked modeled occurrences to include.

Step 3: Select Run to review planned vs designed occurrences, including the linked model occurrences.
