Lock and unlock system memberships

Lock a system membership to keep a component connected to a system in dRofus, even when that connection is missing from the model during synchronization.

A system membership is the connection between a component and a system. A component can belong to more than one system.

New system memberships created directly in dRofus - are locked automatically. Memberships created through model synchronization remain unlocked unless you lock them.

Before you begin

Open your project in the dRofus desktop client and identify the component or system component whose memberships you want to manage.

View locked memberships

  1. In the Systems Module, select a component or system component.

  2. Select System Membership to open the memberships dialog.

  3. Check the Is Locked column.

Is Locked

What it means

Yes

Synchronization keeps the membership in dRofus even if the corresponding connection is missing from the model.

No

The membership can follow the model. Synchronization may remove it if the corresponding connection no longer exists in the model.

Locked memberships also have a padlock icon beside them in the properties pane.

Lock a membership

Use this when a membership must be maintained in dRofus independently of the model - for example, when protecting an existing membership that was originally created through synchronization.

  1. Open the memberships dialog for the component or system component.

  2. Select the membership you want to protect. You can select several memberships.

  3. Right-click the selection and choose Lock membership.

  4. Check that Is Locked shows Yes for the selected memberships.

Result: Subsequent synchronization retains the locked memberships even if those connections are missing from the model.

Unlock a membership

Unlock a membership when you want it to follow the model again.

Important: After you unlock a membership, a subsequent synchronization may remove it from dRofus if the connection is missing from the model.

  1. Open the memberships dialog for the component or system component.

  2. Select the membership you want to unlock. You can select several memberships.

  3. Right-click the selection and choose Unlock membership.

  4. Check that Is Locked shows No for the selected memberships.

Result: The memberships are no longer protected from removal during model synchronization.

Understand the synchronization result

Locked memberships are retained when the corresponding connection is missing from a Revit or IFC model.

During Revit synchronization, the synchronization log includes a warning when a membership is retained because it is locked. This explains why a connection remains in dRofus even though it is missing from Revit.

Example: Keep an additional system membership

A component is connected to a ventilation system in Revit. Your project also needs it to belong to a piping system, but that additional connection is not represented in the Revit model.

  1. Add the piping-system membership in dRofus.

  2. dRofus locks the new membership automatically.

  3. Synchronize with Revit.

The piping-system membership remains in dRofus even though the connection is missing from Revit. The Revit synchronization log explains that the membership was retained because it is locked.

If the piping-system membership should later follow Revit, unlock it before the next synchronization. Synchronization may then remove it if the connection is still missing from the model.
